We visited Pizza by Sal for the first time yesterday after hearing great things from our neighbors, and overall, it was a positive experience. The food was good, and we’d definitely order from here again.

We started with the chicken tenders, which were indeed tender—we could have gone for seconds. For the pizza, we opted for cheese, sausage, and mushrooms. It was enjoyable, though we think calling it NY style is a bit of a stretch; most wouldn’t notice unless they’re from NY like us. The pie was tasty, but it felt a bit salty, possibly due to the cheese or sauce. The crust was thin and foldable, striking a balance between crispy and soft.

We’re giving 4 stars for a couple of reasons. While the service was quick at first, it slowed down significantly when we waited about 20-30 minutes for our pizza. Our waiter seemed to forget about us, so we had to remind him.

Additionally, the prices felt high—$29 for a 16" pie with two toppings seemed steep, likely due to the "Wilmette effect." They claim to use high-quality ingredients, but inflation plays a role as well.

Lastly, the noise level increased significantly once families arrived with kids running around and using the arcade machines. We suggest the owners consider adding sound-absorbing materials to improve the dining experience. It doesn’t need to be silent, but a quieter atmosphere would be nice. Overall, it’s a place we’d return to, especially if they address these issues.

Really terrific food. Decent and very well priced house wines. As it’s ballyhoo you get some top quality products. Patrons can range from young families to obnoxious teens with their phones on full blast. Staff is very friendly. Don’t forget to check out the amazing bakery next door.

The pizza is good, but the service is terrible. After I made the order, we were completely ignored, no one even offered to bring us something to drink. After 20 minutes of waiting, I asked for water, and the servant brought a bottle with one glass, although there were three of us.
I don't recommend staying here for dinner. Better order pizza by phone.

The crust is fire. The pesto is made fresh. Wait staff was incredible. Recently renovated interior.

Excellent New York style thin crust pizza. The crust is flavorful and has a good amount of chew. The garlic knots are buttery and amazing. Another great addition to the incredible Ballyhoo Hospitality group!

The pizza was amazing and the service was really good. There was a error with our dish but they were VERY apologetic and they went above and beyond to make sure we were happy customers. It is also very convenient that there is a fabulous bakery and creamery right next door. We will definitely be back soon.

First time I have a good pizza in the NorthShore. Ordered once and already became a regular. The white pizza with ricotta was amazing! Great delivery too!

Ah, where to start! You've gotta love this place. I came in here with my daughter (8 yr old, picky eater!) so many nights during the summer to just grab a slice of their delicious cheese pizza. It's so simple, so thin, yet so amazing! It's hard to find a good ol' classic slice these days, but man, this hits the spot. They've usually got pepperoni, sausage, and mushroom on display when I've gone- I regularly get pizza by the slice but I'm sure the full pie is great. It's clean, well organized, and in a good nook of our hometown Wilmette.
